When you’re feeling a little under the weather, there’s nearly always help at hand. Whether you simply need to take some paracetamol to ward off a headache, rest in bed for a couple of days or even take yourself to the doctor for further diagnosis and treatment, you’d know what to do if you needed some extra help. But would you always know when your pet wasn’t feeling their best?
Your pet relies on you to take care of them, and that doesn’t just include making sure they have food and water every day.
It’s important to be aware of their regular behaviour patterns and traits too, so that you can easily pick up on any subtle changes that could indicate a problem. But when you consider that many animals have naturally evolved to hide many signs of pain – as these would be weaknesses that could cost them their life in the wild – you can see how it might be tricky to know if they’re suffering.
That’s why it’s important to bring your pet to see us regularly for a routine health check ups. Your pet’s annual vaccination booster is an ideal time to do this, during a health check, our vets will thoroughly examine your pet including their eyes, ears, skin, mouth, teeth, paws and claws, as well as listening to their chest and feeling their stomach for any unusual lumps or bumps.
They will fully explain anything they find as well as possible options for treatment or further investigation if necessary. You will also have plenty of opportunity to ask questions too if there is anything you’re unsure of.
We will send you an email or text reminder to inform you that your pets annual booster vaccination is due.
In accordance with RCVS regulations, all pets receiving prescription medicines must be regularly re-examined by a vet. This will vary depending on your pet’s condition and medication, your vet will advise you when your pets medication review is due.
Pets that are on our Pet Health Plan are invited for a free consultation with one of our vets every year.
These free check-ups for your pet can give you peace of mind throughout the year. We will send you a reminder for these check-ups too!
